A Bit of Crazy Love for You

While wandering around the gold mine of independent designers that is Incub8r last week, we came across super cool label Katherine and Punky, and just had to tell you all about them!

Katherine and Punky consists of one human called Katherine and one three legged cat called Punky. While Katherine does everything to do with the label, Punky likes to spend her time pretending to be a chicken in the backyard. It's a wonderful relationship. And works well to bring us some awesome jewellery and accessories.

All the products are handmade and painted by Katherine and all the frolicking is done by Punky. The pieces are made with a bit of crazy love and try to be as wacky and creative as possible.

Keep up to date with their adventures at http://katherineandpunky.blogspot.com and view their collection online at http://www.etsy.com/shop/katpunky. To contact Katherine, the half of this partnership that can type, email katherinedretzke@yahoo.com.au.

We adore them and hope to see more of Katherine and Punky in FJ very soon.

Find Me, Keep Me

The Finders Keepers Markets will debut in Melbourne this October. The indie design and art markets began in Sydney in 2007, before expanding to Brisbane in 2009.

Brainchild of Brooke Johnston and Sarah Thornton, Johnston says the markets were founded to support emerging designers by creating a design-supportive event. “We wanted to bridge the gap between local weekend markets and expansive trade fairs,” she says. The markets will showcase designs from up to 150 hand-picked designers of fashion, jewellery, accessories, homewares, children’s wear, stationery, art and object design. It will be the largest Finders Keepers event to date, including live music, food and inspiring art and design from around the country.

Designers can apply to be involved via the website by August 27, 2010. Entry is free. Check it out at www.thefinderskeepers.com

What: The Finders Keepers Spring/Summer markets
When: Saturday 9 October-Sunday 10 October, 10am-5pm
Where: Shed 4, Victoria Harbour, North Wharf Rd, Docklands

We can't wait!
